For Wildlife Conservation Mandate

Primary objectives
For Wildlife’s primary wildlife conservation objective is to grow and protect scientifically relevant and conservation sensitive wilderness spaces. All land that has conservation relevance will be considered for possible rehabilitation and protection through:
Land acquisition / lease title acquisition
Management control
Fence dropping programmes

Secondary objectives
For Wildlife will support and further enable ongoing conservation initiatives and specific programmes which have scientifically relevant conservation outcomes and show tangible impact. We can do this by:
Offering resources and funding to specific projects
Initiating and managing conservation projects
Facilitating interventions at management level

Please see here for a more detailed analysis of our conservation mandate.

For Wildlife is striving for internal economic efficiency to such an extent whereby we can incur ZERO overheads. The implications of this are profound.

1) It can cost us nothing to administer the organization full time.

2) It means 100% of incoming funds can be directed to their conservation outcome.

We can only do this by partnering with companies who are offering their services to For Wildlife free of charge, and effectively are becoming our ‘outsourced’ departments.

Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys
Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys are to thank hugely for making this all happen. From the start they supported this organization in concept, and thanks to Barry Garven and Soodeshni Govender and their team they compiled the Trust Deed and saw it through to completion. Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys are also dealing with our PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) submission. Without the Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys Pro Bono Programme this would never have been possible.

The conservation buck has long since been passed to the private sector. With an increasing need for wildlife conservation resources and diminishing National and International funds, and highly inaccessible public and non-profit foundation funding, it is clear that in order to establish conservation initiatives to the level at which they are needed, the private professional sector and the general public need to be engaged.

For Wildlife makes it possible for people, clubs, corporates etc. to join as members. Your membership pledge is your 1% annual donation to the trust and our stable of members will enjoy access to this network of growing conservation minded people and companies.

All For Wildlife conservation activities will be documented and all members will have access to this information.

Wilderness Expansion Project

This project strives to grow and protect conservation relevant wilderness spaces. Any piece of land / ocean no matter how big or small which has scientific conservation relevance can be considered as a beneficiary of the project. As a wilderness area grows, the amount of resources necessary to manage it decreases, and the amount of natural processes allowed to take place increases. Thus, growing wilderness spaces and protecting them from the effects of human habitation and encroachment are essential for long-term wildlife conservation.

Carbon 4 Conservation

This project is an innovative partnership between For Wildlife and CARE, which is a South African company manufacturing cook stoves which produce UNFCCC accredited Carbon Credits.

Investment into this project results in reduced health problems in rural areas, reduced deforestation, reduced natural habitat destruction, reduced carbon emissions and the potential to purchase Carbon Credits at favourable prices.
