Carbon 4 Conservation

For Wildlife has teamed up with Positive Direction and CARE to bring South Africa the first wildlife conservation based project which generates UNFCCC accredited Carbon Credits.

The LittleWood Cooker, will be distributed into areas of the Eastern Cape which are badly affected by casual indigenous timber harvesting in rural areas for firewood. As with anything, when we take away their home we take away the wildlife too which used these wooded areas and forests as their homes.

For Wildlife has undertaken to support this initiative as it reduces the human impact on the indigenous timber and subsequent knock-on conservation problems by 80%. The Cooker uses 80% of the fuel a traditional fire does, and this saving of indigenous trees is profound.

Carbon Credits generated by the initiative are owned and managed by CARE for resale into the carbon market.
